A SURVIVOR'S TIPS
After experiencing a life-changing heart event a few years ago, I had a series of mental and physical challenges to overcome. And overcome them I did.
I’m not declaring I’m 100% perfect everyday as there are times when sensitivities ripple to the surface, however I’ve created a number of tools for not just surviving, but thriving more often than not.
These secrets were developed through a journey of reading, listening, learning, laughing, crying, defying, hugging, smiling, breathing, burping and farting.
They help me most days and I trust they’ll inspire you to overcome obstacles that you face, now and into the future. I’m not a doctor, but I believe it would be hard to find one who argues with my tips.
-
Drink at least 2 litres of fresh water daily. Start every day with a generous glass of water. Not negotiable.
-
Stop defining yourself by your issue. Lose words like ‘chronic’, ‘injury’ and ‘attack’.
-
Feed your sub-conscious mind with positive words and thoughts. This builds your fortress of resilience and strength.
-
Take 8 deep inhales before you get out of bed and 8 even longer exhales.
-
Do more of what you enjoy doing, even if it has to be planned into your schedule.
-
Accept that there’ll be tricky days but they won’t dent your momentum.
-
Choose to move more, and put less poisons into your body. Give your body time to heal itself.
-
Set weekly, monthly, yearly and lifetime goals - share them with a friend or neighbour for accountability.
-
Find a 5-minute guided meditation online and practice daily.
-
Start hugging. The meaning of life is ‘to hug and be hugged’.
Over time these will be covered in greater detail by me and chosen experts, with the aim of helping you to love an incredible life. Together we can keep the beat.
