Recently I had my half-yearly heart stress test and I found myself worrying about the results. In the weeks leading up to my test, my mind started to play tricks on me – I felt pains and experienced breathless moments. These incidents miraculously disappeared after successfully completing the test. They’re completely gone – one billion percent. I can only conclude that my concerns manifested themselves in my body to create fake issues. It’s a crazy idea that I was potentially contributing to my own misfortune.
I’m one billion percent healthy today. That’s my latest mantra. One billion percent.
I started saying ‘I’m 100% healthy body and mind’, but then I realised I needed to push it further to overcome decades of not-so-perfect self-talk. It’s estimated that over 70% of our internal dialogue is negative or unhelpful, and I’m no exception, so I thought one billion percent belief is required to balance the scale.
Budha once said ‘what you think, you become’ – so today I’m going to become one billion percent focussed and healthy. I find that practising the art of positive self-talk is important, but it’s amazing how quickly I can lose the ritual when daily life or worries get in the way. Today is my reset and my fresh start, once again. That’s the great thing about life – every day offers us a new opportunity to refine our language and focus. When you wake up in the morning, the sun signals a new day and a new opportunity to move forward. For most of the time, it doesn’t matter what happened yesterday. For example., if your diet is less than perfect one day, it doesn’t dictate you have to continue that theme the following day. In fact, a new day offers you the chance to make new choices that will overcome the effects of the negative food you ate the day before.
I’m excited that today my one billion percent health message is reaching every cell of my body, especially my brain. So the bulging disc in my back is bulging with one billion percent positivity and my heart is pumping blood that is vibrating with one billion percent belief and strength around my body.
When the mind believes, the body will follow. What have you been saying to yourself lately?
Be kind to yourself.
